blurred reflection of the water waves
snow has fallen on the sun loungers
the mountain forest dark and white
conifers seem to bear the load of the world
from the other shore of the lake
an orange light cleaves through the fog
while the waterfowls beat about
waveringly outside my window
this sleet looks like it's never gonna end
this freezing rain looks like it's never gonna thaw
and in a million years from now
it turns out to have fossilised it all
behind the reed, the world becomes so indistinct
the funnel's smoke seems so immovable
the sky is grey and never has been different since
i don't know when, i don't recall
the algid water causing needles and pins
the distant crying of the children at play
the unreal gravity of chilling air
i feel so far away and yet i can't escape
